I predicted earlier that McCain could not handle the onslaught. I hate it. I hate it with a passion because it is so easy to predict. For my Republican brothers and sisters, I’m being a realist—not a pessimist. Obama has just opened up double digits, 51 percent to 36 percent, against McCain in a nationwide poll put out by NEWSWEAK. For those of you who say polls don’t matter, sometimes that’s true. However, the polls are good indicators of a statistical trend. Friends, this isn’t good. It’s what happens when you try to pretend you’re something that you’re not—a conservative.
