I am admittedly deficient on the Transportation issue. Citizen Tom put up a post today that really defines the transportation problem succinctly. CT’s post redirects focus on where it should be—the private sector—while delineating the government role. Yes, I know I just said I know nothing about it but travelling our roads in Northern Virginia on a daily basis, at least qualifies me to recognize roles of government and the private sector. CT’s post makes one think the obvious: How are we going to solve congestion? 12 more lanes? Allow taxpayers to pay for it through income taxes?

Thanks for the pointer and the compliment.
I hardly consider myself an expert on transportation issues. To be fair, I expect most of the members of the General Assembly and our BOCS have a better grasp of the issues. The problem is what they are doing with that knowledge.
As voters we need to insist that they abrogate some of the power they have taken upon themselves, restoring the historical checks and balances.
