Oh, I agree with much of that – in theory at least. But, taking just one of your points as an example, the trouble is, none of us can ignore our neighbours, or the rest of the world anymore. We now have a global economy, whether we wanted it or not (but that’s another argument). So, they’re not going to bail you out, or me, because we’re irrelevant! I know, we don’t think so, but they do and you have to say, to their way of thinking, they’re right. If a big bank or other “gilt edge” company goes bust and no one does anything to stop the rot, then one bank follows another as CONFIDENCE is lost and then we’re all screwed – world wide. YOU go bust, or I go bust – nobody gives a shit. We’re on our own, pal!
