“Why otherwise does it direct the judges to take an oath to support it? This oath certainly applies in an especial manner, to their conduct in their official character. How immoral to impose it on them, if they were to be used as the instruments, and the knowing instruments, for violating what they swear to support!” Marbury v. Madison, 5 U.S. (1 Cranch) 137; 2 L. Ed. 60 (1803)
Chuck is articulate, which shouldn’t surprise us, since he’s also one of the greatest (imo) pastors in the United States.
This is very important to me.
You see, I am a firm believe that one of the main problems in America is the way that the church has been co-opted by the government, and Christians have been sold out by leaders such as Robertson and Dobson, as well as organizations like the Southern Baptist Convention.
There is a necessary reason for the separation of church and state, and Christians should be the main proponents of it.
Any growth in government in the areas of welfare and social work is just an encroachment on the role of the church, and it should piss Christians off.
Yet we see them happily go along with “faith-based” socialist programs, as well as happily except their non-profit, tax exempt status from the government.
But Chuck Baldwin is working to stop that.
In fact, he has reformed the old group of pastors known as the Black Regiment.
As I’m sure you’re aware, the Black Regiment “was a group of patriot-preachers from virtually every protestant denomination located throughout Colonial America at the time of America’s fight for independence who courageously preached the Biblical principles of liberty and independence. The moniker stems from the tendency of these patriot-preachers to wear long, black robes in their pulpits.”
As Chuck Baldwin says on his website, “They expounded, explained, and extrapolated the Biblical principles of authority and jurisdiction carefully and meticulously. As a result, the men of colonial America were so well informed, both spiritually and politically, that when the time came to declare their independence, they had both the heart and mind to do it. Statesmen took up the pen, and soldiers took up arms in the greatest fight for freedom in world history. And leading both statesman and soldier was the Black Regiment.”

Chuck Baldwin is leading the New Black Regiment, and you can read his initial appeal here ( http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2007/cbarchive_20070724.html ).
He also has a list of Black Regiment pastors on his website, and there are a few in good ole southern VA.
